In Nicole Schulzes drawings and sculptures human beings are the leading part. Her works deal with themes like bad habits, street culture, sexuality, old values and contemporary history of civilization, and how people act in that surrounding.
In her drawings you will find faces or persons which are drawn with only one line - sensitive and light - curious of what happens to them. They are conducting the scene. Collisions with abstract forms, texts and structures take place in neon-colours or dark backgrounds. Every single piece finds its place - well balanced and composed.
Combined with the titles, which are important elements of her drawings and sculptures, the whole imagery of her work reveals reality-based statements with a touch of humor, surrealism and a certain irrationality.
The style of Schulzes drawings is sensitive, delicate and often transparent. Her sculpture work cross-references to her drawings, but gets a more manifested character by combining loose elements in a defined context.
